(University of British Columbia, Canada 1989) Mandarin Honeysuckle
(L. tragophylla × L. ×brownii ´Dropemore Scarlet Trumpet´)
A hybrid “Honeysuckle” that blooms profusely in spring and periodically through the summer with striking two-tone tubular flowers of dark reddish-orange outside and paler yellow-orange inside. The young stems and leaves are an attractive coppery brown color. Sun to part shade.
Spectacular flowers and excellent cold-hardiness make this Mandarin honeysuckle a popular choice among gardeners. Whole flower effect is an intense orange color, which is as a mandarin, well set off by the complementary colors of the foliage and stems. Unfortunately it is without a scent.
